Power Pages 2026 Release Wave 1: Security and Maker Updates

The Power Pages 2026 release wave 1 changes that portal owners should assess across security, authentication, development and analytics.

Portal change needs a security lens

Power Pages sites often expose business processes to customers, suppliers, partners or citizens. That makes release planning a security and service-management activity, not only a maker experience.

The 2026 release wave 1 plan covers April through September 2026. Some items are generally available and others remain in preview or are planned for later delivery.

Notable areas in the plan

  • Authentication assistance: configuration with a security agent is listed for general availability in August 2026.
  • Power BI embedding: embed token v2 support is shown as generally available from 15 July 2026.
  • Server-side extensibility: secure server-side logic reached general availability in April 2026.
  • AI-assisted development: AI coding tools for Power Pages reached general availability in May 2026.
  • Planned administration controls: site analytics, server logging, granular external authentication controls and threat detection are listed for preview from September 2026 or later.
Security principle

Generated configuration and code should be reviewed against table permissions, web roles, identity flows, data exposure and the organisation’s secure-development process.

A portal-owner rollout checklist

  1. Document authentication providers, web roles and table permissions.
  2. Test changes using external-user journeys, not only maker accounts.
  3. Review custom JavaScript, Liquid, APIs and server-side logic.
  4. Confirm monitoring, logging, incident ownership and data-retention requirements.
  5. Use staged deployment and regression tests for high-volume or regulated portals.
